"Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before." -- Audre Lorde

About Us

Untold Stories of Liberation & Love is an Ypsilanti-based collective that amplifies and generates local women of color’s creative courage to envision our communities

as we center cooperative community-governed solutions grounded in abundance.

Untold Stories is deeply grateful for core support from Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and our fiscal sponsor Culture Source. Untold Stories also thanks Movement Strategy Center for contributing to the publication and launch of our anthology.

This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.     - Toni Morrison.

Poetry in a Time of Virus

During the COVID-19 pandemic the poets of Untold Stories made sacred time for creativity as they juggled jobs, children, elders, and survival.  Each week we wrote with a shared prompt across the distance of our shelters in place.  Below are the weekly prompts and the poems born of this time
